Cooperativa Apuana pays great attention to health and safety in the workplace, moreover it does its best in order to respect the environmental and human heritage. This commitment is reflected through respect of laws, prevention, planning and control. In this way the activities that generate a significant impact on the environment or the potential risky situations are constantly controlled and they are the cause of continuous improvement programmes to reduce or eliminate negative effects.
In this case, communication covered a key role.
The Company’s objectives are the transparency and awareness, aimed both to its personnel and to the customers, regarding environment, health and safety at work, in order to strengthen trust for the offered services and completed works.
To date Cooperative Apuana is the only marble mining Company which has achieved the EMAS Accreditations, ISO14001 and OHAS18001.

The fields on which Cooperativa Apuana focuses its attention are, for the environmental field:
- waste management;
- traffic management of heavy vehicles;
- consumption of resources, favoring the use of materials with low environmental impact and energy sources renewable.
For the security field:
- maintenance of vehicles / equipment;
- staff training.

Quality guarantee - Our trademarks
In order to guarantee its image and the authenticity of the exclusive product, Cooperativa Apuana has registered its own trademark, as well as the one of the subsidiary Company Apuana Lavorati. It is an essential step to ensure the origin of the material extracted from the quarry called Piastra Bagnata located in the municipality of Vagli Sotto (LU).
In 2014, Cooperativa Apuana also registered the brands Calacatta Vagli® and Arabescato Vagli®, two of the finest quality of marble present in the Apuo-Versilian area, extracted only from the quarry Piastra Bagnata. In this way it is easier to guarantee the uniqueness of marble’s origin; designers have a tool to avoid counterfeits for the realization of the most important world masterpieces.
Recently, another unique and valuable material has been registered: Calacatta Fiorito®, it is extracted from the quarry called Borella located in the municipality of Vagli Sotto (LU) and owned by the subsidiary Company Faeto Escavazione srl.
